 AstraZeneca is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, employing more than 50,000 people in 150 countries.
Most of the 1,450 Canadian employees work at a high-tech facility in Mississauga, Ontario. This facility is headquarters for manufacturing, clinical research, sales and marketing, and distribution.
This project consisted of a five storey building including a five story atrium to be a ‘Class A' suburban office building. The newly constructed building has a gross square footage of approximately 20,188 m 2 with an estimated construction cost of C$61 million.
It is linked to an existing single storey building by a double height glazed Visitor Centre / Circulation Spire and also linked to the existing manufacturing facility by a curved, glazed circulation link.
Clare, Randall-Smith & Associates Limited and A.W. Hooker Associates Ltd were retained to provide ongoing budget estimates throughout the design stages and continued to be consulted with respect to construction change notices.
